OUR MISSION
Safe Eye Care and Exceptional Surgical Results in a Collaborative and Comfortable Environment
Your vision is our singular focus. We understand how important the sense of sight is. Having your eyes in our hands is a responsibility that we take very seriously. We have an unparalleled commitment to experience, technology, patient comfort, and visual outcomes. Success in freeing you from the burden of glasses, readers, and contact lenses is what motivates us. We aim to provide a stress-free experience that is respectful of your concerns, time, and costs. Our objective is to deliver safe eye care and exceptional surgical results in a collaborative and comfortable environment. In short, we want to make you happy and for you to be thrilled with your new vision.
At Brusco Vision, we invest in the best equipment and technology (both diagnostic and therapeutic). In addition, we continually analyze our data, carefully listen to our patients, and never cut corners. While we are certainly pro-innovation, we are steadfast in our obligation to safety and would not offer a procedure that does not have a track record of demonstrable success. This personalization and attention to detail is what makes Brusco Vision different. We are committed to and believe in everything that we do here.
Please take some time to navigate the site, and if you have any questions, comments or concerns that you do not see addressed here, feel free to contact us by phone or email, or schedule an appointment for a full visual analysis. We also gladly offer second opinions.
AWARD WINNING SURGEON
Meet Dr. Brusco
Michael A. Brusco, MD, FACS, is the founder and medical director of Brusco Vision – the premier practice dedicated to changing lives through vision correction in Washington DC and the DMV.
He is a board-certified and award-winning refractive surgery subspecialist who has successfully performed over 40,000 corneal-based vision correction procedures, such as high-definition all-laser LASIK and PRK. In addition, he has performed over 5,000 lens-based procedures, including Visian ICL, refractive cataract surgery, and refractive lens exchange (RLE or Custom Lens Replacement). He also serves as an assistant professor at the George Washington University Department of Ophthalmology, where he teaches refractive surgery.
Dr. Brusco was awarded the STAAR Top 100 International Surgeon honor multiple years, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance. He is a founding member of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences, an organization that aims to establish standards in curriculum, education, and training to improve the quality of refractive surgery on a global scale. Most recently, Dr. Brusco personally was performing close to 1% of all LASIK procedures in the US annually.
Dr. Brusco graduated with honors from Harvard College, in the top quartile of his class. At Harvard, he first became interested in the complexities of sight as a research assistant in the visual cognition lab of one of the world experts on inattentional-dysfunction. Dr. Brusco then obtained his medical degree from Northwestern, with multiple clinical clerkship honors, and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Kansas. While at the University of Kansas, he was considered to be one of the most prolific and accomplished residents in the program’s storied history. Dr. Brusco performed more eye surgeries than 97% of his colleagues nationally, and scored higher than 96% of all ocular surgeons on the national board certification exam. After graduation, Dr. Brusco spent six intensive months learning about more sophisticated and complex surgical techniques from many of the most innovative eye surgeons to further enhance his skills and knowledge-base.
Before moving to the DMV, Dr. Brusco spent two years as a civilian staff ophthalmologist at Fort Riley, one of the busiest army installations in the US. At Fort Riley, he was selected and entrusted to perform vision correction surgery on engineers, fellow surgeons, JAG’s, special forces members, platoon commanders, and pilots, among many others, under the auspices of the warfighter refractive eye surgery program (WRESP). It was a pleasure to serve his country in this manner.
Although Dr. Brusco maintains a lifestyle that is committed to surgical and academic excellence, he is most proud of the patients he has the privilege of helping on a daily basis. The goal at Brusco Vision is to provide a custom treatment plan tailored for each patient to attain optimal vision in a comfortable and stress-free environment. We encourage you to take the first step toward changing your life and book a comprehensive vision and ocular analysis (ANOVA) with us today!
ABOUT US
Our Vision Correction Practice
Brusco Vision is a boutique-style laser vision correction and refractive surgical facility dedicated to one simple goal: helping you see better to live better. Vision correction is the only thing we do, and we do it very well. We are among a small number of practices along the east coast that cater exclusively to getting you out of glasses and contact lenses. This narrow focus allows us to offer 6 different types of LASIK (LASIK plus its other five modern variations). Dr. Michael Brusco has already successfully helped tens of thousands of other people just like you reclaim their visual freedom and natural clear vision.
Offering Each Patient the Highest Level of Service.
Dr. Brusco has assembled a talented team of the most caring, patient, and well-trained people in the industry to carefully walk you through the process of corrective vision surgery. This team combined with our cutting-edge technology provides a personalized experience in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Brusco Vision has a steadfast commitment to continually improving its outcomes and offering each patient the highest level of service. We strive to customize each patient’s situation and select the best procedure for their individual needs and desires, rather than guide patients onto the path of a single refractive procedure. We firmly believe, and the data strongly supports, that this approach leads to better outcomes and generally happier patients.

Brusco Vision’s state-of-the-art facility and in-house surgery center is conveniently located off of the beltway in Falls Church, Virginia. Patients feel comfortable and welcome the moment they enter our reception area, realizing our services, facility, and technology are unparalleled.

Initial Vision Consultation
At your initial consultation please expect to spend approximately 90 minutes with us, where you will be the center of attention. Our goal is to do everything we can to make your visit comfortable, successful, and memorable.
When You Arrive
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our medical technicians in the reception area who will accompany you throughout your visit.
Each and every successful vision correction procedure at Brusco Vision relies upon a highly-structured and Advanced Necessary Ocular and Vision Analysis (ANOVA). You will be carefully guided through this easy and completely painless process.
This panel of the most advanced and proven diagnostic tests available today is one of the many reasons why Brusco Vision is truly a one-of-a-kind facility.
Preliminary Testing
We will explain what is happening and answer any questions you have along the way as we walk you through your tests.
None of the tests are painful or uncomfortable; in fact, the devices are similar to cameras, each taking a picture from a different point of view. With our thorough testing from these pictures, we get a nearly complete view of the eye.
These tests give us valuable information to help guide us in determining your candidacy. The more information we can obtain, the more accurate the results we can achieve with one of our six forms of LASIK.
Meet Dr. Brusco
After the diagnostic portion of the consultation, you will meet with Dr. Brusco. He will then personally take additional measurements (the “one-or-two” test, but more detailed) to fine-tune your refraction and assess the overall health and status of your eyes. He will review your results and together you will have a comfortable, no-pressure discussion on whether LASIK can help you.
Like fingerprints, every eye is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution at Brusco Vision. We do not attempt to shoe-horn everyone into the path of a single refractive procedure. Instead, we aim for a truly custom experience. If you are a good candidate, Dr. Brusco will talk about which procedure can give you clear vision based on your unique pair of eyes.
Day of Surgery
We Want You to be Happy with Your New Crisp Vision.
Depending on which of our 6 types of LASIK is best for you, occasionally we may ask you to return for additional testing if we believe that will give us more accurate data for your procedure. After all, we don’t just want to get “close enough” with our results – we want you to be happy with your new crisp vision.
Painless Procedure with Quick Recovery Time
On the day of the procedure, patients can expect to be in our office for up to 2 hours. However, the actual procedure takes less than 15 minutes. The visual freedom our patients obtain, however, can last a lifetime. For all 6 of our visual solutions, the procedure itself is virtually painless, and the recovery time is quick. Come with a friend or family member who can drive you home, since your vision may be blurry immediately after. Most of our patients are seeing well enough to drive the morning following their procedure.
